Sage’s Dish – AMC, GH & OLTL
Posted by sage | Under Sage's Dish Monday Feb 22, 2010C’mon babies, let’s roll with the dish!
AMC
Cady McClain (Dixie) will for a total of 5 episodes and will be in ghost form for Tad.
Jennifer Bassey (Marian) lays the blame for Marian’s abrupt shuttling off to the crazy farm at the feet of Charles Pratt, ex-Head Writer. You can read her interview here.
She gets away with attempted murder (Greg Madden) and a whole host of other crimes and now we add kidnapping to the list as Erica, Tad and Jake drug and kidnap David, all because she wants to talk him into getting Greenlee to leave Pine Valley and abandon Fusion, the noblest of reasons. Is anyone except David EVER held accountable for their actions?
Executive Producer, Julie Hannan Carruthers, is thrilled with the new LA digs for the show and told Soap Opera Digest that watching the scenes of Greenlee and David’s wedding gave her the feeling of, “We’re back!”
Ha ha. Denise Vasi (Randi) cops to a blunder any of us could make. She admits that she has forgotten her AMC lines because she was staring at Thorsten Kaye.
Speaking of which, Pine Valley is all a twitter (some literally) that Alicia Minshew and Thorsten Kaye (Kendall and Zach) are returning All My Children for a short time starting April 9th for Minshew and April 13 for Kaye. Kaye will not stick around long, but Minshew is expected to stick it out for a while, this being the return after her maternity leave. No word yet on how Zach will be taken off screen.
Taylor Miller (ex-Nina) will be returning to AMC when they actually do have a tribute show honoring James Mitchell (Palmer). It is to air sometime in the Spring. Mitchell died in late January of this year just before his 90th birthday of pneumonia complicated by COPD.
New Kids On the Block! It has been known for some time that the child actors on the show would not be following their on-screen parents to Los Angeles. Emily Alyn Lind as been cast as the new Emma and will begin airing next week. Lucy Merriam played Emma since 2006. Tate Berney also begins airing as Little Adam next week.
Debbie Morris, President of the GH Fan Club since 1988, has been tapped to bring her mad fan club managing skillz to the AMC Fan Club. Morris took over as of Monday and is already planning an All My Children Fan Club Weekend to mirror her extremely popular GH Fan Club Weekend for this July. She has hit the ground running with a beautiful new website at www.amcfans.com. She also has given the GH Fan Club website a makeover to match the AMC site. That one is at www.ghfanclub.com. I have zero doubt that the AMC fans and actors are going to be thrilled with the changes they experience from this transfer, including an off line AMC Fan Club (hey, not everyone has a computer!) and membership packages, as well as the weekend event. I’ll bet I know whose line Katrina wants to work at the Main Luncheon. (haha)
Old Val is now New Val. Bill Dawes is back playing Val again if you noticed the difference. He was Val (Erica’s long-suffering assistant) from 1998-2002 with Michael Malone stepping into the role from 2005 until now. Now if we could just get Boyd back…
GH
ABC Soaps In Depth reports that former Guiding Light star Bradley Cole (Jeffery/Prince Richard) has been cast as Carlton Bauer on General Hospital. He’s scheduled to show up the end of March.
Soap Opera Digest tells us that Scott Reeves, aka Dr. Steve “Drop the ‘n Lars’” Webber) has been put on contract with GH. That’s a lot of Liz comfort coming up.
According to TV Guide Magazine (What? The Canadian TV Guide didn’t scoop this one, like all the others?), Annie Ilonzeh will portray Maya Ward and is expected to be a love interest for Ethan.
Carolyn Hennesy’s real life husband, Donald Agnelli, will play a biker who shows up at Jakes on March 5. He was also in the scenes where Alexis and Diane ended up in the biker bar in January 2008.
Oh ho ho. Get ready for this one. Not only does Sonny blame Olivia for not telling him that Dante is his son, he also tells her if she HAD told him when they were young, he might never have become a mobster. That is her fault too. My own favorite lullaby crooning murder accomplice, Skye Quartermaine Alcazar, is returning to the Quartermaine fold soon. She’ll be mixing it up with Tracy and Luke as well.
Carolyn Hennesy twittered about being very excited about a “BIG” audition. Gawd, I hope she’s not leaving the show.
I guess Valentin has been pushed out again. Head Writer, Bob Guza, recently likened his arrival to the rumors of Genie Francis or Vanessa Marcil returning to the show (which usually means “not at all”). Matthew Borlenghi, who is set to play the newest Cassadine bastard son bad boy has already taken up another project filming a new movie.
Annie Ilonzeh starts airing as Maya, Bradley Ward’s granddaughter (Edward’s great-granddaughter) on March 31. This character is the daughter of Justus Ward’s sister. Maya is ambitiously pursuing a career as a doctor and a “chemistry test” for this character and Ethan Lovett is planned. There is talk of there ultimately being a (dear God, not another brother snafu) triangle between Maya, Lucky and Ethan. I hope this is just a stupid rumor because Lucky has had enough family geometry to last a lifetime
Maya’s half-sister, Zoe, has yet to be cast. She will come to town to get what she sees is her piece of the Quartermaine action, even though she is not related to them. She is supposed to be a love interest for Michael.
Kiefer gets parents at the end of March. Lisa Waltz will play his mother, Melissa Bauer, and Bradley Cole will play Warren Bauer, his father.
As you all probably already know, Lindze Letherman reprises her role as Georgie Jones starting March 26th. It’s for a few episodes and she supposedly helps Maxie through a difficult time.
The end of Dante’s undercover work does not spell the end of one of my favorite actors, Ronnie Marmo, on GH. Fortunately, the talented actor will continue on as his character, Ronnie Dimestico, is also hired to work at the PCPD.
That’s all for this week except to wish my fondest get well wishes to one of my favorite gals, Mardi, as she valiantly – and no doubt successfully – takes up the fight against lung cancer. I love ya, ho. I know you will prevail.
OLTL
Who loves Tuc Watkins (David) almost as much as me? That’d be OLTL and they are hard at work on coming up with a reunion story for David and Dorian during one of his frequent guest spots between Desperate Housewives tapings.
So Jessica, after her bullet-removing surgery, will be found to be without any memories after 1997, so she thinks she’s 17 and in high school. Not sure yet if everyone is just going to humor her and let her tool around Llanview High or what. I wonder if they are going to have Eric Torpey look back at her from a mirror and educate her that Cris no longer looks like this:
But this:
In her newly reclaimed world, she hasn’t lost Baby Megan, doesn’t remember that she was molested, there’s no Tess and Bess is hiding away deeply, she never broke Antonio’s heart, married and lost Nash and had to give up Baby Chloe. Instead, she’s just a pampered, happy rich girl with perfect hair and a gigantic trust fund. Sounds like the reset button works for her.
Oooh, also, that frozen lake was inside on a sound stage, so the water wasn’t really freezing and full of ice. It was made of tempered glass with paraffin wax all over it and a 4′ swimming pool under the parts where Gigi and Stacy would fall in.
I’m so eager for Bo’s old friend, Calvin Broadus, to return to Llanview on February 24th. You may know him better as SNOOP DOGG!!!
Count another Rachel as off the charts. Daphnee Duplaix has been fired from OLTL where she has been a part of the cast since April of last year.
Anyway…
That’s it for this episode of The Dish! Hope you’re all having a great week. Hugs!
